The COSMOS Network is pleased to announce the 2nd History & Philosophy of Cosmology Conference that will be held on 10-13 September 2024 at the University of Milan.

Call for Symposia 

Proposals with a specific focus on historical and/or philosophical aspects discussed in cosmology are welcome. Topics include (but are not limited to): puzzles in modern cosmology; perspectives on the implication of the Standard Cosmological Model; the Hubble tension; modeling the Dark sector; quantum and relativistic cosmology; multi-messenger astrophysics and cosmology; black holes. 

Proposals must include: 

  1. The title of the proposed symposium 
  2. A short summary of the proposal (up to 200 words) 
  3. A description of the topic and a justification of its current importance to the discipline (up to 1000 words) 
  4. A list of participants with institutional affiliations and e-mail addresses, including any non-presenting co-authors (from 3 up to 5 people, time slot 75 min)
  5. Titles and abstracts of all papers (up to 500 words for each title and abstract) 
  6. A short curriculum or biographical description (up to 1 page) for each participant

Call for Flash Talks (10 minutes) 

We accept short individual presentations for which especially junior scholars are strongly encouraged to apply. Topics include (but are not limited to): puzzles in modern cosmology; perspectives on the implication of the Standard Cosmological Model; the Hubble tension; modeling the Dark sector; quantum and relativistic cosmology; multi-messenger astrophysics and cosmology; black holes. 

Proposals must include: 

  1. The title of the proposed talk 
  2. A short summary of the contribution (100-200 words) 
  3. A description of the topic and a justification of its current importance to the discipline (up to 750 words) 
  4. Institutional affiliation and e-mail address of the author 
  5. A short curriculum or biographical description (up to 1 page) for each participant
